Your goal is to decrease stress and increase peace! Right?! The first step is to assess how stress manifests in your life. What happens when you experience too much stress? What signals do your body and mind send when your stress is too high?
I explain this in my first video on decreasing stress. If you haven’t watched it yet, you can find it here.
Ready to decrease your stress?! Great! Step #2 is to practice awareness. Remember how I said all those pesky signs are actually messages that something is off? (For example: When you feel overwhelmed, anxious, have difficulty concentrating or sleeping, feel overly emotional, etc.)
To be able to reduce your stress, you have to start by recognizing when it’s too high!
When do you typically feel overwhelmed?
What is happening when you feel tense?
Who are you around when you feel pressure?
Once you identify WHEN your stress is too high, you can take action to decrease it! The alternative to this is that vague sense of “stress” that just sort of hangs out, you hope will lessen someday, but aren’t sure how to decrease it.
You were made for a life of peace and freedom! God didn’t intend for you to live under the burden of overwhelming stress.
Therefore, your next action step is to spend the next few days studying yourself. Practice noticing when you feel “stress,” in whatever way that shows up in your life. (Think about whatever stood out most from the Mini Stress Quiz.) Then, STOP! And take note of what you are doing, what you are thinking, what you are feeling, who you are with, what time of day it is, etc. As you practice awareness around your stress, you will start to notice patterns.
This information isn’t your solution, but it’s a necessary step to decrease your stress! Learning to recognize when your stress level is too high will allow you to decrease it, I promise!
