In this video, I discuss the reality that things are not always what they seem! Can I get an "Amen?!" We continually analyze and interpret circumstances to evaluate them as "good" or "bad." However, in real time we don't see the entire picture and therefore cannot accurately interpret everything! As times goes on our perspective often changes.
I want to encourage you with a few ways to give yourself, and your circumstances, a little breathing room today. Sometimes this is difficult to do. Perfect opportunity to remind yourself that things are not always what they seem!
Helpful Ways to Practice:
1. Romans 8:28 says that in all things God works for the good of those who love him... so even if your current circumstances look like anything but "good," we can rest assured that He is working for our good. Kris Vallotton says that if things are not looking good just keep going because He will bring good in the end! Sometimes the best way to cope with yet-to-be-resolved issues is to simply keep going.
2. Remind yourself of past circumstances that you initially interpreted one way but later viewed another. It is super helpful to remind yourself that your current perspective might change!
3. Ask God for GRACE to loosen your grip on your current perspective and cling to Him instead. Walking through hard times can be taxing- mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. If you cannot seem to make sense of your current situation, I encourage you to practice letting some of your concerns remain as unanswered questions. Give God some time to bring more understanding to the area. Making the choice to stop analyzing can be uncomfortable, but it's also incredibly powerful!
Friends, things are not always what they seem! If you are going through a challenging time and can only see your situation through the worst-case-scenario lens, I encourage you to give these tips a try. This isn't the end of your story!
